Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE)

The 2015 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) has launched the call for applications for the Feb. 11-16 event next year. With the aim of promoting reading among the younger generations, the annual book fair will admit visitors under 18 free of charge, which is expected to benefit around three million students aged 7-18 in Taiwan. Also, students aged 18 and above will be eligible for 50 percent off the admission fee with valid forms of identification. Shu-Fang WANG, director of the Department of Humanities and Publications under Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, praised the TIBE’s role in promoting international exchange, publishing professionalism and good reading habits. The two preferential measures targeting young students, a first among all Asian book fairs, are expected to boost their participation in such events, she added.
